While you have customers in-store who view their visit as an anticipated outing, there are several things you can do to enhance the experience whilst extracting more profit.
Firstly, think of your store layout and how to direct footfall past your product displays. Feature your premium products prominently so that kids (and adults!) will want to add them to their Santa wish lists. Put them at the front of your store and displays, make sure they are highlighted with good lighting, and give them enough space to stand out.
Where possible, cater to both parents and children by providing additional paid attractions such as a hot-drinks stand with mulled wine and hot chocolate, a marshmallow roasting station, or a Christmas-themed photo booth.
If you can re-create the atmosphere of a Christmas market, you’ll boost both the customer experience and sales. Try re-arranging your normal stock or food items into themed stands and decorate them with fairy lights. People will feel more impulse to buy if you make it part of the experience.
Also keep your displays topped up as much as possible during the season, because full displays help sell more toys.
And don’t forget, slower music subconsciously influences people to take their time while perusing your store!
